I love fall decor. All fall decor. This is fun and on the cheap.
Planters from Lowe's Hardware Store approximately $11.00 each.
Cheap Wally World (Walmart) Pumpkins $3.00 each.
Found Pine Cones (yes, literally pulled over and collected). Free.
Bag of Gourds Wally World $9.00 split between all 3.
$17.00 each. Not bad. FYI you could totally skip the gourds. Use fall leaves, paint some pine cones, tuck in some faux fall flowers.
When it is time to carve the pumpkins, it gives them a nice little place to rest and be seen.
I hate a power outage. I know, they were all over, many states yesterday. We admit to have already had lunch at Chik-Fil-A, while running errands. So when we got home and found the power out, well we were bummed, but I have an easy go-to.
Why Cut Spaghetti? Well it is fun, and truth it cooks faster. It is a one pot meal.
Cook, drain, then dump in pasta sauce, heat thru, and you are serving.
If you have a power outage, you can match light your gas stove. Or, you can boil your water outside on your grill, then drain, dump in sauce, and you are good to go. If you are lucky you might have some bread to throw on the grill as well. **Please note, I do keep pans that are made to use on my grill. (Southwest power outages). :( :(
(You can buy Barrila's cut spaghetti by the box). However, I was out.
So, (and this is fun if you have kids). Grab your box of uncooked spaghetti, and break it over a bowl into 1" pieces. You can break a bunch at a time. I break/broke the whole box.
Now boil your water, and decide on your sauce. It was power outage folks, I used a pantry staple.
Drain, then add pasta and sauce back in same pot and heat thru.
That's it. Your camping at your house.
I still had some left over tomatoes, I cut them, drizzled some balsamic on them, and some everything bagel seasoning and served on the side.
It was a rough it yourself meal.
Try it, it's fun.
How I did it for the "Gram", in a pasta bowl with tomatoes on side. Picture check!
As luck would have it, right when we finished roughing it by cooking outside, the power came back on. Isn't that always the case? So I dumped it all in a chili style bowl, and sat on the couch and munched.
Now, don't judge, but the left overs, are great cold (breakfast)!
Also, you can pop it in a pan add a bit more sauce, or........a can of Tomato Soup (no water), and heat up for a leftover meal.
We actually freeze the left overs, and use as a lunch, or evening go to when we have had a busy day.
Hopefully you are lucky enough to make your own sauce, and not have to use a pantry staple.
But -- roughing it is OK TOO!!
We too remember the Walk-Up Dairy Queen (we took our daughter there)!
Loving this throw back vintage pic of the Walk-up DQ and the old Lota-Burger.
What can we say we love the 50's.
Sad fact: The 1980's are the current generations throw back.
That's ok with us!! We loved the 80's. Bring on the Big Hair. Pop your collar, and don't forget to
